יְחַס
יְחַסPa. ַחֵס same, 1) to nobilize, distinguish. Targ. Y. Num. 25:13. 2) to trace, to record. Meg.12b (read:) אי לְיַחוּסֵיח קאתי לְיַחֲסֵיה וליזילוכ׳ (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) if the text (Esth. 2:5) were intended to give Mordecais genealogy, it ought to trace him back to Benjamin. Yeb.62a יַחְסִינְהוּ בשמייהווכ׳ he recorded them by their names and those of their fathers Ithpa. אִתְיָיחַס to be enrolled, recorded. Targ. Num. 1:18 (h. text ויתילדו). Targ. Y. Gen. 21:12. Targ. 1 Chr. 5:1; a. e.
